With only two weeks until Christmas, we feel like it’s the perfect time to take a look at our all time favourite Christmas movies. There is nothing better than sitting around a cosy fire and enjoying a festive movie or two.
We’ve made a list – we’ve checked it twice – and the results are in! So snuggle up with your loved ones and take a look at our pick of the all time greatest Christmas movies.
Miracle on 34th Street (1994)
When the Santa Claus of a huge store is fired for being drunk, Cole’s department store feel like they have won the lottery when they find the perfect replacement. Introducing himself as Kris Kringle, it’s not long until all the children start truly believing that he is the real deal.
He is arrested after being accused of assaulting a man on the street and it’s up to those who believe in him to convince the court that not only is he innocent, he’s also the real Father Christmas.
The film teaches children (and adults) that your dreams really can come true – as long as you believe!
Elf (2003)
Buddy, a baby from an orphanage, somehow ended up in the North Pole. After being raised by the elves, he decides that he wants to find out who his birth father is. His father, who is on Santa’s naughty list, doesn’t even know that Buddy exists. Whilst in NYC, he causes some naughty problems that only a human elf could.
This Christmas comedy starring Will Ferrell is the highlight of every Christmas movie marathon. It never fails to cheer us up or make us laugh.
Love Actually (2003)
Love Actually is probably everyone’s favourite romantic Christmas film – it’s definitely one that people re-watch every year. Set in London the month before Christmas, it depicts ten different stories and the way that their love life intertwines with each other.
The film begins five weeks before Christmas, and then there is a weekly countdown until Christmas Day.
The film has an all-star cast, including names such as Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Hugh Grant, and Colin Firth. It’s funny and romantic and definitely worth a watch.
We think Christmas is a wonderful time to reflect on not just our favourite movies, but also back on our own brilliant memories.
